Next summer my friend and I are planning to spend about a week in New Orleans. Where is probably the safest area for two females to stay? I know how to stay safe (beware of surroundings, no dark alleys that sort of thing) but we really don't want to stay in a seedy area either.

We just returned from the most amazing weekend in New Orleans. I love this city. I stayed at the 1896 O'Malley House Bed and Breakfast. You need to stay at this place, it was wonderful. We went on a swamp tour the host recommended. We also went to several of the Mid-City restaurants, check out Ralph's in the Park. Also go to Angelo Brocato's, it is a gelto shop by the B&B, it's over 100 years old. The street car runs just in front of the B&B and takes about 15 mins to the French Quarter. I can't wait to go back for Jazz Fest.

My experience over a neatly arranged and well-provisioned Honeymoon bed breakfast was interesting.
