Hey everyone

I'm going to South Africa in 5 weeks and I'm not sure how it works with money. Should I exchange my money now or when I get there? Should I use credit cards and ATMs or should I use cash or travellers' cheques?

I assume South Africa will be different from the places I've travelled to before (mainly western europe)

THanks

Hi Nordic Dan

When I was there, most major shops and hotels were accepting euros and US dollars, but were giving lousy exchange rates. I used ATMs most of the time just because I didn't want to be carrying around too much cash with me. Although some people I met in a backpackers hostel said that the best exchange rate was from the exchange boxes over there (there are plenty of them at the airport).

Good luck
